María Elena “N”, who was mayor of the municipality of Amanalcoin it State of Mexicowas linked to trial for his alleged responsibility in the murder of trustee Miguel Ángel Lara Cruz and his driver, Guillermo Roque. In addition, she is accused of having ties to La Familia Michoacana, a criminal group to which she gave treasury resources.
According to research, the mayor of Amanalco, gave up to $5,000 dollars to La Familia Michoacana for each agreement that was reached in the town hall.
And not only that, but La Familia Michoacana received half of the annual budget received by the municipality governed by María Elena “NE”, according to the Prosecutor’s Office of the State of Mexico.
María Elena “N” is accused of ordering the death of the trustee Miguel Ángel Lara and his driver Guillermo Roquehomicides recorded in January 2023 in the municipality of Zacazonapan.
The Mexican prosecutor’s office assures that the mayor of Amanalco ordered “El Pelón”one of the leaders of La Familia Michoacana, killed the trustee and his driver.

The order was derived from the differences between the mayor and the trustee, since both came to office for the Citizen Movement party, but before assuming her duties, María Elena moved to the National Regeneration Movement (Morena). A situation that did not seem to Miguel Ángel Lara.
Mayor with links to La Familia Michoacana
Both María Elenea and Miguel Ángel Lara constantly met with members of La Familia Michoacana, who in addition to giving them resources, alerted them about anti-drug operations in the area.
