NATO countries reaffirmed this Tuesday the continuity of their support for Ukrainea country that was attacked by Russia with an experimental medium-range missile, a gesture considered an attempt at intimidation.
The council that brings together NATO and Ukraine held a meeting at the ambassador level on Tuesday at the headquarters of the transatlantic military alliance to discuss details of what happened.
In a brief official note, NATO noted that the use of the experimental ballistic missile was seen as “another attempt by Russia to terrorize the civilian population of Ukraine and intimidate those who support it.” to that country.
Putin’s nuclear threats
Russia launched the Oreshnik medium-range missile, which has nuclear capability, against the Ukrainian city of Dnipro on Thursday.
Shortly after, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that the missile launch was a response to the United States’ authorization for Ukraine to use long-range missiles on Russian territory..
Moscow also modified its nuclear doctrine to justify the use of nuclear weapons in the event of a massive attack against Russian territory with conventional weapons but supported by a hostile atomic power.
