Tabasco was stained with blood last weekend, first a massacre in a bar, which left six dead, then an armed attack in the middle of a wedding in the municipality of Jalapa, which was interrupted when a commando entered the Casino del Pueblo while the bride and groom were “throwing the bouquet”. The events were recorded in a video that has circulated on social networks.
In the images you can see men with their faces covered pulling one of the guestspointing a gun at him, while another person tries to prevent it.
During the confusion, the gunmen wounded two more people: the bride’s parents. The mother was hit by a bullet in the shoulder and the father was hit in the foot. Regarding the father, he is a union leader of the municipality’s bureaucrats.
The men, armed with rifles, were at least five and arrived at the scene aboard trucks. The man who resisted the alleged kidnapping was identified as Vladimir Zúñiga, who He was shot several times and died at the scene..
“Armed people entered that place looking for a specific person and the people who were near that area were also affected, unfortunately,” reported the Deputy Prosecutor for Common Crimes of the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Tabasco, Gilberto Melquiades Miranda Díaz.
Miranda also pointed out that these unfortunate events “apparently are not related to organized crime… armed people entered the place. But we have no hints, yet, that they could belong to organized crime.”
The State Attorney General’s Office stated that the attack at the wedding is not related to the attack on the ‘DBar’ club, which occurred in Villahermosa shortly before, where six people died and 10 more were injured.
Victim linked to drug trafficking
Deputy Prosecutor Miranda also announced the name of the deceased at the wedding; Vladimir Zúñiga Calzada, allegedly linked to illicit activities such as human trafficking.
The Narco México Blog reported on a video broadcast on November 24, in which armed individuals, identifying themselves as members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), denied having any connection with the armed attack at the ‘DBar’ nightclub in Villahermosa, Tabasco.
The hitmen were equipped with military clothing, assault rifles and caps with the cartel’s initials. In the video they accused La Barredora, a rival organization in the region, of being the authors of the armed attack on ‘DBar’.
However, The CJNG spokesperson did claim responsibility for the murder of “Vladimir” at the Jalapa wedding. “We do accept what we do, like the attack on the Jalapa wedding in the casino, where we fired your manager of La Barredora in said municipality, who was seen extorting money from the population.”
