Elton John faces one of the most difficult challenges of his life: the loss of vision in one of his eyes due to an infection.

At 77 years old, the British singer shared in a recent interview with Good Morning America how the illness he suffered over the summer has deeply affected him, limiting his ability to watch and create music.

The “Rocket Man” artist revealed that he lost vision in his right eye after suffering a severe infection while in the south of France. “I can’t see anything. It’s been four months now and my left eye is not in its best condition either. “It is a complicated situation”he commented, expressing his frustration at not being able to carry out everyday activities such as reading or watching television.

Despite the difficulties, Elton continues to maintain a positive attitude. “I’m hopeful that everything will be resolved, but right now I’m stuck.”he said, adding that although he is making efforts to improve, recovery is a long process. The inability to read the lyrics of his songs and the uncertainty about when he will be able to return to the recording studio have left him worried about his professional future.

The situation has not only altered his work life, but also his personal life. “It has left me completely surprised. “I can’t do many of the things I used to enjoy, but I feel fortunate for the support of my family and my medical team,” he added.

Elton, who in September had already informed his followers about the eye infection and his slow recovery process, stressed that this setback has not managed to break his spirit. “Despite everything I’ve been through, I feel very grateful for what I have. “I consider myself a lucky person.”he stated, emphasizing his gratitude for the constant support of his family, friends and health professionals.

The singer, who is close to releasing the documentary “Elton John: Never Too Late” on Disney+, he does not lose hope of resuming his musical career once he manages to recover his vision. In the meantime, he is focused on his recovery and remains positive, confident that he will emerge from this ordeal with the same resilience that has characterized him throughout his life.
