Harry Kane continues to show why he is one of the most lethal strikers in world football.
This Friday, the English attacker broke Erling Haaland’s record by becoming the fastest player to reach 50 goals in the Bundesliga, achieving this feat in just 43 games.
Kane’s hat trick in Bayern Munich’s 3-0 win over Augsburg not only cemented his place in history, but also confirmed the Bavarians’ absolute dominance in the German league.
With two goals from the penalty spot and a header in added time, Kane reached the magic mark of 50 goals, exceeding the 50 games that Haaland needed to achieve the same record with Borussia Dortmund.
At 31 years old, Kane continues to reinvent himself at Bayern, scoring 14 goals in the Bundesliga this season. In his post-match statements, the forward reflected his satisfaction:
“At half-time we said we had to keep going and create chances. Luckily, we got the penalty and from there the game opened up.”
Bayern, an unstoppable machine with Harry Kane
With this victory, Bayern extended their lead at the top of the Bundesliga to eight points, maintaining an impressive streak of six consecutive clean sheets in all competitions.
Vincent Kompany’s team, undefeated in the league, has 29 points and seems unstoppable heading into the second half of the season.
RB Leipzig, second classified with 21 points, will try to reduce the gap in their next match against Hoffenheim. However, the consistency and depth of the Bavarian squad make them the clear favorite to lift another league title.
Friday’s game also allowed Bayern to prove their defensive solidity, with Manuel Neuer back in goal after recovering from a rib injury.
Although Augsburg defended firmly throughout the first half, VAR and Kane’s precision from the penalty spot broke their resistance.
