Rita Moreno has her own Barbie doll. The actress of Puerto Rican origin was honored by the toy brand with a doll inspired by her to celebrate her 93rd birthday, which she will celebrate next December 11.
Through his Instagram account, The Barbie brand shared several images of Rita Moreno’s doll. “Rita Moreno has long been a star on stage, and a heroine in real life. As the first Latina to win the revered EGOT award, and a fiercely outspoken advocate for representation, her most important role to date is being the role model she never had,” the brand wrote in the post.
“Barbie is proud to honor the actress and activist as the newest doll in the Barbie Tribute Collectioninspiring future generations to enter the spotlight,” he adds.
The doll wears the same dress that Moreno wore at the 1962 Oscars ceremony.the year in which she won the statuette for Best Supporting Actress for her work in West Side Story.
According to People, Moreno helped design the doll, which is part of the Barbie Tribute Collectionand all the details it includes, such as the dress and accessories.
