The news of the day, because Donald Trump has entrusted none other than Elon Musk with the direction of the new Department of Government Efficiency (The DOGE, for its acronym in English) but the question is what will this new department actually do and particularly what will the richest man in the world do in his new job?
Trump signed on social networks that Musk and DOGE will dismantle government bureaucracy, reduce excessive regulations, cut unnecessary spending and restructure federal agencies.
Musk, a technology entrepreneur who has extensive corporate leadership experience to meet this objective that has been defending it for months, but his governmental role and the regulatory environment in which his companies operate, which raises reasonable doubts about his real interests. , to accept this new position.
The president-elect has announced that The DOGE will function as a kind of advisory board, which will operate externally, through a partnership with the White House Office of Management and Budget.
It is important to note that this is a temporary body, which Trump hopes will give results in 18 months, however, Musk has in mind that it will be much sooner and that it will save this new administration $2 trillion dollars.
The department, Trump announced, will provide advice and guidance from outside the government and partner with the White House to drive large-scale structural reform and create a business-like approach to government like never seen before.
