A Hispanic man was found guilty of the murder committed in 2019 from a 76-year-old Los Angeles woman who previously employed him as a construction worker, prosecutors said in a statement Tuesday.
Heber Enoc Díaz, 33 years old and resident of Pasadenawas found guilty of the death of Chyong Jen Tsay on April 9, 2019.
According to a press release from the Los Angeles prosecutor’s office, Heber Enoc Díaz was hired to work in Tsai’s housein the city of Arcadia, in 2019.

Robbery at the victim’s house
In March of that year, while working for Tsai, the Hispanic committed a robbery at the elderly woman’s property. The following month, according to prosecutors, Díaz no longer worked at Tsai’s house, but returned to commit another robbery..
When the Hispanic arrived, The woman confronted him in the courtyard of the house. According to authorities, the Hispanic man allegedly used a hammer, a hand saw and a box cutter to kill the woman on April 9, 2015.

Under arrest 10 days later
Diaz He was arrested as a suspect in the crime of the elderly woman 10 days after it was committed.
“Chyong Jen Tsai was murdered during a robbery in her own home, a place where I should have been safe and secure“Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said in the statement.

“This crime is particularly heartbreaking because Mrs Tsai was simply in her home when she encountered an intruder. “Our deepest condolences go out to Ms. Tsai’s family, who has suffered an unimaginable loss,” the prosecutor added.
Gascón acknowledged that nothing can fill the void left by the absence of a loved one, but he hoped that guilty verdicts can bring a little justice and peace to their lives.
Guilty of serious charges
Díaz was found guilty of one count of murder with allegations of special circumstances that the crime was committed during a burglary or burglary, two felony counts of second-degree burglary and one felony count of first-degree residential burglary, second-degree burglary and elder abuse.

The jury also found that special circumstances allegations were true in first-degree murder case and causing serious bodily injury to a victim over 70 years of age, using lethal and dangerous weapons.
The sentencing hearing for Díaz It is scheduled for December 16 and the Hispanic man faces the possibility of life in prison without parole.
