By adding 50% of the vote count, Democrat Rubén Gallego will be senator for Arizona, the first Latino to occupy that position.
“Rubén Gallego is a pioneer and today he adds another achievement: becoming the first Latino Senator from Arizona,” said CHC BOLD PAC President Linda Sánchez. “From bringing jobs to Arizona to expanding access to health care and protecting our reproductive freedoms, Senator-elect Gallego is a tireless advocate for working families.”
The BOLD PAC is the electoral arm of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, which invested $1.2 million dollars in the campaign of Gallego, who before Sánchez was the president of that electoral group.
Gallego had important Democratic support in his campaign, including the presence of former President Barack Obama.
BOLD PAC’s investment in this election is the largest made to an individual campaign in its 23-year history, the group acknowledges.
“Ruben has dedicated his career to fighting for our community, from leading electoral initiatives as a Phoenix organizer to serving in the State House of Representatives, Congress and even as former president of BOLD PAC,” he recalls. “We look forward to everything he will do to continue fighting for the Latino community and all Americans in the Senate.”
The BOLD PAC campaign led an “unprecedented” effort in the 2024 election cycle, investing $6.15 million.
He also maintained the “Lucha War Room” program, a unique rapid response initiative to engage Latino voters with content in both Spanglish and Spanish.
Gallego defeated Republican Kari Lake, backed by President-elect Donald Trump.
