Lili Estefan and Raúl de Molina, presenters of El Gordo y la Flaca, shared their opinions on Donald Trump’s recent victory in the United States presidential elections.
The former president’s victory has generated great surprise in various sectors, and both hosts took advantage of the space in their program to comment on the unexpected reaction of the Latin community to this result.
Estefan and De Molina were particularly surprised by the significant support of Latino voters for Trump, especially in key states like California and New York, where Latinos have traditionally favored Democratic candidates. “It is impressive to think that, despite the harsh words that Trump has had towards Latinos in the past, many decided to give him their trust for a new mandate”expressed De Molina in one of his interventions. For him, this support represents an interesting paradox that reflects a possible transformation in the political preferences of Latino voters in the United States.
For her part, Lili Estefan highlighted the democratic aspect of the process and the importance of respecting the decision of the majority. “No one expected it, really, congratulations to the country. “It is a new beginning in one way or another, democracy triumphed, the people spoke and now we only have to support our new president who starts next January 20, 2025.”Estefan expressed, showing a conciliatory tone and wishing the best for the new administration.
In addition, De Molina mentioned Kamala Harris, the current vice president of the United States, regretting that she has not become the country’s first female president. “I think she would have been a great president for this country because she is a prepared woman and I also think it is time for this country to have a woman president. Hillary Clinton didn’t achieve it and perhaps she would have achieved it.”he commented, pointing out the need to move towards greater female representation in the presidency.
Raúl also emphasized his hope that the new president will recognize the support of Latino voters and translate it into policies that benefit this community. “I hope that something good comes out of this, that President Donald Trump understands that the Latino people supported him and that he supports Latinos and immigrants, who are the ones who need it most.”added the presenter.
With these comments, Estefan and De Molina have reflected both surprise and an optimistic and supportive perspective towards the future administration. Although doubts and divisions remain in American society, both hosts reiterated their commitment to democratic principles and encouraged their audiences to support the will of the people.
