Last June, Hunter Biden was found guilty on three charges. The first was for making a false statement to acquire a firearm, the second was for making a false statement to obtain the weapon in the records and the third is for illegal possession of a firearm.

All of them correspond to serious crimes that carry sentences with a maximum of 25 years in prison in total and a fine of $750,000, although experts predict a lesser punishment.

Despite this, President Joe Biden does not plan to pardon his son, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre reiterated.

Hunter Biden is scheduled to be sentenced next month on the weapons charges, as well as federal tax-related charges in a separate case.

When asked if the president has any intention of pardoning his son, Jean-Pierre responded: “We have been asked that question several times. Our answer is still no.”

Jean-Pierre said he had no comment on the pardons the president intends to grant at the end of his term, including those of any administration officials or people threatened by President-elect Donald Trump with legal action.

“I know that pardons are going to be a big part of the questions I’ll be asked here over the next few weeks and months,” he said. “I have nothing to share or any thought process regarding pardons. Once we have something to share, we will certainly do so.”

Hunter Biden is the first immediate family member of a sitting president to face a criminal trialalthough the crimes were committed before his father’s mandate.
