Lima Alliance dismissed the Argentine coach Bruno Marioniold acquaintance of the Liga MX for his step with Pumas as a player and coach, after losing the Peruvian league title to its bitter rival, Universitario, reported the general manager of the blue and white team, Rafael Medina.
This happened after Alianza Lima had the championship in the bag and let it go on the last datesince, if they had won, they would have been crowned.
“It was not possible to close the year with the objectives met and we saw it appropriate to make that decision”, Medina declared about Marioni’s dismissal to the Ovación sports portal.
The manager added that The replacement of the “Barullo” will be announced in the coming days.
Medina thanked the blue and white fans for “all their unconditional support” and added that he committed them to continue working to “reverse these results.”
He stressed that it is time to do “self-criticism” and take stock of “the good and the bad” that was done during the year.
“What we can tell the fans is that we have already been working for the 2025 season,” he noted.
Marioni faced a series of criticisms for the hiring he made for Apertura 2024, which ended with Alianza Lima in fourth place in the general table of League 1.
The inertia continued in the same way for Clausura 2024, which concluded this weekend with a painful 1-2 defeat at home against Cusco FCwhich decided that, by one point difference, the champion of the home tournament would be the Universitario, which reached 37 units, compared to 36 for the Alliances.
