The Republicans have gained control of the Senate of the United States in the elections.

This gives the Republican Party an important center of power in the country’s government and a leading role in confirming the next president’s cabinet, as well as any Supreme Court justice if there is a vacancy.

After winning seats in West Virginia and Ohio and winning an unexpectedly close race in Nebraska, the GOP has enough to gain a majority in the Senate.

Control of the House of Representatives is still up for grabs, with more than 100 races yet to be decided.

With Republicans in control of the Senate, the race for the House of Representatives is still being played out in dozens of competitive elections.

For Republicans, it is an opportunity to gain full control of Congress.

For Democrats, a majority in the House of Representatives It will give them an important check on the power of the Republican Party and force negotiations in Washington.

House races are being decided across the country, from close contests in New York to elections in California, where it could still take days to determine a winner.
