Already after the celebrations for the conquest of the 2024 World Series by Los Angeles Dodgers Japanese star Shohei Ohtani took the opportunity to undergo surgery to correct a tear in his labrum resulting from a dislocation of his left shoulder.
The ninth Angelina and the Major Leagues confirmed the operation that was carried out this Tuesday in Los Angeles by Dr. Neal ElAttrache on the two-time American League MVP award winner and great favorite to win the award in the National League this season that just ended.
The arthroscopic surgery performed on Shohei Ohtani was a success and it is expected that the player will be available for the Dodgers from the beginning of Spring Training with a view to what will be the next Major League campaign, the second for him with the ninth angelina.
One of the reports of the operation of Shohei Ohtani who in principle should not miss any moment of the preseason with the Dodgers due to this surgery on his left shoulder.
Shohei Ohtani, who won the first World Series of his career, was injured during Game 2 of the Fall Classic that the Dodgers played against the New York Yankees. The Japanese tried to steal second base and ended up injuring his left shoulder on that play.
With clear signs of pain in the slugger, the alarms went off in the ninth led by Dave Roberts due to the possibility that he could not continue in action. However, shortly afterwards it was confirmed that the Asian could continue playing and he was ready for Game 3.
The Dodgers completed a great World Series by beating the Bronx team in five games to win the eighth title that crowns them as champions of the season in the Major Leagues, something they had won for the last time in 2020.
Shohei Ohtani is coming off a dream season in his first year with the Dodgers after signing a historic 10-year contract in exchange for $700 million. The Japanese became the first player with at least 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in the same campaign.
Additionally, the 30-year-old star was the leader in home runs in the National League with a total of 54 home runs, in runs batted in with 130, in on-base percentage with .390, in slugging percentage with .646, in OPS with 1.036, in runs scored with 134 among other offensive departments.
After that great performance Shohei Ohtani will now set his sights on 2025 in which in principle he will be able to get back on the mound once he is completely recovered from the Tommy John operation that was performed before last season, a facet that awakens a lot interest in the Dodgers.
