Donald John Trump took advantage of President Joe Biden’s missteps in the campaign and boosted his candidacy with the Republican Party in such a way that He arrived on November 5 with the possibility of consummating his return to the White House and installing a second term.
For the heir to the empire in the real estate sector and television media figure, these elections represent a revenge for his defeat in 2020 and to achieve his goal, he came with a speech full of controversy and that divided the country.
What are Trump’s promises?
To understand what Trump’s return means, we list 5 main points of his tentative government:
Initially, Trump raised the idea of imposing a tariff on all products imported into the United States, mainly from China, which according to experts, would cause an increase in prices for American consumers and global economic instability.
He has said he should have the authority to impose higher tariffs on countries that have imposed tariffs on American imports. It has even threatened to impose a 200% tariff on some imported cars.
Trump also promised the “remodeling” of the bureaucracy and with it, a large wave of layoffs, mainly in national security positions and “eradicate” political opponents, even under his speech of a “clean” after his rhetoric that in 2020 he was a victim of electoral fraud.
In one of the most controversial points, The former president not only promised to reverse Biden’s immigration measures, but also threatened that he would employ the National Guard and federal troops, to carry out what he called “the largest deportation in history.”
He will also try to end automatic citizenship for children of immigrants, a move that would run counter to long-held interpretations of the U.S. Constitution.
At the international level, Donald Trump would seek, he said, an end to the war between Ukraine and Russiawith a certain bias in favor of Putin. Furthermore, his constant questioning about the purpose and mission of NATO suggests a hypothetical exit
Trump has criticized US support for Ukraine in its war with Russia and has said he could end the war within 24 hours if elected, although he has not said how he would do so.
Finally, The Republican seeks to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA), also called Obamacare, something he already tried in his first term as president, and although it failed then, this year it is part of his campaign.
