South Korea, Japan and the US react to North Korean missile

The US B-1B nuclear bomber, South Korean F-15K and KF-16 fighter aircraft, and Japanese F-2 aircraft participated in the maneuver, the South Korean army detailed.

“The exercise demonstrates the Korean-US alliance’s commitment to expanded comprehensive deterrence to respond to North Korean nuclear and missile threats,” the US military said in a statement. South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff (EMC).

During the aerial maneuver, South Korean and Japanese aircraft escorted the American bomber to a site south of the Korean Peninsula “demonstrating an overwhelming ability to attack simulated targets with speed and precision,” he added.

The latest ICBM launched by North Korea would have flown higher and farther than any previous missile, according to the North Korean, South Korean and Japanese militaries, who monitored its journey.

The launch came at a time of intense international scrutiny over the possible sending of thousands of North Korean soldiers to Russia to support its invasion of Ukraine.
