Millions of families monthly in the United States receive help from social programs such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) which has the main objective of guaranteeing food security in low-income households.
Although the funds coming from United States Department of Agriculture They are intended to fight malnutrition and cushion the impact of inflation and other economic factors in such households, the SNAP program requires that certain requirements be met to receive the benefit.
To qualify for monthly financial aid, one of the most important requirements is the household income limit depending on the number of members that make it up. In this case, SNAP recently adjusted the numbers for both households with and without earned income where older adults, disabled people and pregnant women are not included:
Income for households without labor income:
- Household of 1 person: Monthly income: $1,632, Annual income: $19,584 dollars.
- Household of 2 people: Monthly income: $2,215, Annual income: $26,580 dollars.
- Household of 3 people: Monthly income: $2,798, Annual income: $33,576 dollars.
- Household of 4 people: Monthly income: $3,380, Annual income: $40,560 dollars.
- Household of 5 people: Monthly income: $3,963, Annual income: $47,556 dollars.
- Household of 6 people: Monthly income: $4,546, Annual income: $54,552 dollars.
- Household of 7 people: Monthly income: $5,129, Annual income: $61,548 dollars.
- Household of 8 people: Monthly income: $5,712, Annual income: $68,544 dollars.
- Additional members: +$583 monthly, +$6,996 annually
Income for households with earned income:
- Household of 1 person: Monthly income: $1,883, Annual income: $22,596 dollars.
- Household of 2 people: Monthly income: $2,555, Annual income: $30,660 dollars.
- Household of 3 people: Monthly income: $3228, Annual income: $38,736 dollars.
- Household of 4 people: Monthly income: $3,900, Annual income: $46,800 dollars.
- Household of 5: Monthly income: $4,573, Annual income: $54,876 dollars.
- Household of 6 people: Monthly income: $5,245, Annual income: $62,940 dollars.
- Household of 7 people: Monthly income: $5,918, Annual income: $71,016 dollars.
- Household of 8 people: Monthly income: $6,590, Annual income: $79,080 dollars.
- Additional members: +$673 monthly, +$8,076 annually.
SNAP payment is deposited monthly onto an EBT benefit card with which beneficiaries can buy basic food baskets in agricultural markets, retailers and supermarkets authorized by the program. In some states, prepared food can be purchased in restaurants.
