The crime of Mauricio Cruz Solis He joined the unfortunate list of journalists murdered in Mexico, one of the most dangerous countries for those who practice this profession.
His death occurred on Tuesday night in the municipality of Uruapan, Michoacán, just minutes after having made a live broadcast for the Facebook channel “Minuto x Minuto Michoacán.”
It was even one of the few broadcasts that Solís made from the street, since most of his interventions were made from the locations of a local radio station, where he interviewed various personalities from the region.
However, on this occasion The communicator took to the streets of Uruapan to report the damage caused by a fire in the market of that municipality.
“A very good evening to all the people who listen to us and tune in, who see us through social networks… We are in the center of the city of Uruapan, where a few days ago an unfortunate fire occurred,” he mentioned to the camera.
While the journalist showed the ravages of the fire, he interviewed some merchants and met with the mayor of Uruapan, Carlos Manzo Rodríguezwho agreed to be interviewed live.
In said interview, the municipal president mentioned that it was still not known with certainty whether the fire had been accidental or provoked, since the State Attorney General’s Office continued to investigate the case to determine the causes.
Before ending the broadcast, Solís said goodbye with a few words to his followers, without imagining that it would be the last message he would dedicate.
“People, good night, rest, God bless you, we are going to be very attentive here, we are going to walk the streets of Uruapan to see what we find.”
According to media such as the site La Silla Rota, it was only two minutes after the transmission ended when a vehicle stopped near the communicator, a crew member got out and fired at least 4 times.
