After the attorney general of Mexico, Alejandro Gertz Manero criticized that the United States has not provided a complete report on the apprehension of Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, what he described as a “kidnapping”, the United States ambassador to Mexico, Ken Salazar responded to the federal official’s accusations.
Salazar assured that contrary to what Gertz Manero declared, there is communication between the authorities of his country and Mexico, he even showed some letters from US Attorney Merrick Garland and of Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
The diplomat highlighted a letter from Blinken sent to the then Alicia Barcena, where he rejects all responsibility in the alleged kidnapping of “El Mayo” Zambada, since neither the aircraft that took them to Texas nor the pilot are from the United States.
“It was not our plane, nor our pilot,” says Ken Salazar
“No police operation was carried out in Mexico, it was not our plane, nor our pilot, nor our people. The pilot was not a contractor, nor an employee of the United States government nor a US citizen, I don’t know how to say it more clearly, but we are in the investigation and in contact with the government of Mexico,” said Ken Salazar in a conference. press conference held at the new diplomatic headquarters in Mexico City.
“I am so surprised that you cannot say ‘victory of the people of Mexico,’ ‘victory of the United States,’” claimed the American diplomat.
The claim of prosecutor Gertz Manero
In the morning, during the conference of President Claudia Sheinbaum, the Attorney General of Mexico stated that there is evidence that what happened to “El Mayo” Zambada was a kidnapping and demanded that the United States provide complete information about what surrounds the arrest. .
“We need the United States Government to inform us. We have been informed of one part but another is missing. That person (“El Mayo” Zambada) who was kidnapped in Culiacán arrived by plane to a border city in the United States,” claimed Alejandro Gertz Manero.
Although he acknowledged that the US government has provided information, but not complete ones, and that the request has even been made in accordance with international law.
“The kidnapping is proven,” says Mexican prosecutor
“That is what we are asking of you, Tell us why he arrived in a cloned plane, why the pilot was not arrested under those conditionsbecause there is no protocol that tells us how it entered,” said the attorney general of Mexico.
The Mexican prosecutor said that the requested information is of utmost importance, since this data is useful, although not fundamental.
“That is, the kidnapping is proven and we have all the information and it has been made public,” said the federal official.
