The arrival of a crowd of Trump supporters caused street closures and traffic problems several hours before the start of the rally, at 5 p.m., and for which some 19,500 seats had been reserved, which according to the Republican’s campaign were sold out in a matter of hours.

In a calm atmosphere, attendees, dressed in red “Make America Great Again” caps or T-shirts with the slogan “No more bullshit!” (No more nonsense), at noon they began to access what is known as the most famous stage in the world.

The Republican chose to appear in a city with a Democratic majority and in a state that all polls give to his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris.

This will be his second rally in New York since his appearance in the Bronx on May 23.

Police deployment around Madison Square Garden has been especially heavy because the concert center is located at the major transportation hub of Penn Station and there were fears of anti-Trump protests.

The vast majority of attendees are white, some coming from neighboring states, although EFE was able to speak with some Latinos who will vote for Trump on November 5.

“He defends family values better. That’s why we will vote for him,” some of those attendees told EFE.

Orthodox Jews who obtained the coveted invitations to the rally assured that “with Trump the alliance with Israel is protected, much better than with Harris, who we do not know what position she has.”

According to Trump campaign spokesperson Danielle Álvarezthe selection of Madison Square Garden for this great rally in the final stretch of the campaign responds to the candidate’s intention to “speak to all voters from the media mecca of the world, New York.”
