Israeli bombing in southern Lebanon leaves at least eight dead

At least eight people, including a child, were killed this Sunday and another 25 were injured in a bombing carried out by Israel on the outskirts of the city of Sidon, in southern Lebanon.an area where Israeli attacks have been limited since the start of the escalation on September 23.

The Emergency Operations Center of the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health said in a statement that the attack took place against Haret Sidon, the eastern outskirts of the city, while the Lebanese National News Agency (ANN) stated that the fatalities included a minor.

Lebanese media indicated that a projectile hit a three-story buildingwhile they indicated that so far it is unknown what the supposed objective of the action is, which occurs in the midst of an intensification of Israeli bombings against different points in southern Lebanon.

This Sunday, the Israeli Army ordered the evacuation of a series of towns in southern Lebanonamong them Tafhata, Ghasaniya, Babliyeh, Zrarieh, Qasiba, Habush, Kfar Rman, Arnun, Yahmar, Khiyam, Khirbet, Arab al Lawziyeh, Marwaniya and Deir Siryan move north of the Awali River, located more than 50 kilometers from the border with Israel.

Since it began its invasion of southern Lebanon almost a month ago, Israel has ordered the forced evacuation of around a hundred towns in the area, while it has continued to intensely bombard different parts of the country, mainly in the south and in the east.

More than 2,600 people have been killed and more than 12,000 others have been injured in Lebanon since fighting between Israel and the Shiite group Hezbollah began on October 8, 2023.a day after the outbreak of war in the Gaza Strip.

However, the vast majority of these deaths have occurred since the beginning a month ago of Israel’s massive bombing campaign against Lebanon, which in turn has forced the displacement of more than 1.2 million people.
