Chivas de Guadalajara had to make a drastic change in the middle of Apertura 2024. With the departure of Fernando Gago to Boca Juniors, the process in the sacred Flock came to an end. Arturo Ortega has taken over as interim and, so far, has won both of his matches.

Before the departure of Fernando Gago, Chivas de Guadalajara had six consecutive games without winning. The Sacred Flock only achieved one victory in its last seven games.

In the first instance, Arturo Ortega is under the role of being the leader of a transition period. The former Tapatío coach would be that strategist who culminate the campaign and open the way to a new process.

How has Arturo Ortega fared?

If Ortega’s performance is good, the Chivas de Guadalajara leadership could give him an opportunity to Start a season from the formation of the team.

So far, Ortega has directed two games and has achieved something that Chivas had not achieved since June 20, 2024: two consecutive victories.

This new Sacred Flock beat the Tuzos del Pachuca 0-2 at the Hidalgo Stadium and 3-2 to the rays of Necaxa at Akron Stadium. These victories have put Chivas three points away from the direct qualification positions for the Liguilla.

But behind these victories have developed unconvincing performances. The defense of the Sacred Flock has received up to 31 shots and has conceded 16 corner kicks. However, the defensive deficiencies have been compensated for by good performances in attack.

The club’s next game will be this one Friday, October 25. The rival will be Club Puebla at the Cuauhtémoc Stadium. This is a great opportunity for the red and white team. If you win, you can match the line of the Xolos de Tijuana and get into the fight for a direct pass to the next phase of Aztec football.

Without a doubt, this would be a great blow to Arturo Ortega’s table. It would not be the first time that an interim coach wins the position and The former Tapatío coach could bet on this.
