Terror in Guanajuato: 3 police officers are killed in a bar and a car bomb explodes outside the headquarters

Just one day after a security agreement was signed between the president of Mexico Claudia Sheinbaum with the governor of Guanajuato, Libia García, two violent events were recorded in that state.

The first of them was the murder of three municipal police officers who were on rest, and were attacked inside a bar in the city of Celaya.

According to the newspaper Reforma, the victims were former members of the Federal Police who, after the disappearance of that security body, joined the municipal police of Celaya.

The agents, who were dressed in civilian clothes, were attacked by at least two armed individuals who fled. Reports from the authorities indicate that one of the officers died at the scene, while the other two died while receiving medical attention.

It was also reported that The 3 officers were in the middle of a process to be dismissed by the municipal government, since after the arrival of Mayor Juan Miguel Ramírez Sánchez, the decision was made to remove all former federal police officers.

In another event recorded during the early hours of this Thursday, a car bomb exploded outside the facilities of the Public Security Directorate of the municipality of Acámbaro.

The explosion left three officers injuredamong them a woman reported in serious condition, as well as material damage to the building, four surrounding houses and 7 vehicles.

Elements of the Army and the National Guard arrived at the scene to protect the area and prevent another attack, while state authorities began investigations to find those responsible.

In images spread on social networks You can see the damage caused by the explosion. One of the doors of the Public Security Directorate building was collapsed, while the windows of nearby houses exploded.

President Claudia Sheinbaum referred to this attack in her morning conference on Thursday, pointing out that, as it was an attack with explosives, the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) will intervene in the investigations.
