The vice president and Democratic presidential candidate, Kamala Harrisspoke in an interview on Tuesday with Noticias Telemundo about his economic proposals for Latinos, about the elections in Venezuela, what he has discussed with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum and about the migration crisis on the southern border.
She also responded to one of the most notorious insults hurled at her by her Republican rival, former President Donald Trump, by calling her a supposed “communist.” “I am a capitalist, a pragmatic capitalist,” Harris said. when answering journalist Julio Vaqueiro’s question about how he defined himself politically.

“I believe we need a new generation of leaders in the United States, who will actively work with the private sector to develop America’s new industries.” “I am a capitalist who believes that not everyone starts from the same foundation, but that everyone has the drive, the guts and the work ethic. To be successful, we have to create an economy that offers opportunities to people,” concludes the vice president.

Your view of immigration vs. Trump’s vision
Asked about How do you see immigrants in the United States?and how that contrasts with Trump’s view of them (that they “poison the blood of the country, that they “have bad genes”), Harris responded that “I understand the dreams that people have for themselves and their children. I understand the optimism and faith that people have for a better future and that they are willing to work hard to achieve it. It seems to me that Donald Trump does not see people’s optimism, ability, and potential in a way that allows them to have the opportunities necessary to pursue their goals and dreams. That is the big difference.”
“My job as president of the United States is to ensure that we have secure borders at all times and that we have an organized and humane immigration system. The American immigration system has been broken for many years. It can be fixed,” Harris said.
“There was a bill in Congress that could have covered some of those needs, but Donald Trump killed that bill because he preferred to use that problem as campaign material instead of fixing it. I commit to being a president who will fix the problem, understanding that it is a mistake to think that it is either about having secure borders or a comprehensive immigration system. “We can and should have both options,” the vice president recalled.
Harris added that “we need smart and humanitarian immigration policies” “that include a method to achieve citizenship, that allow more resources to be added to the border in terms of security, that honor the history of the United States as a nation of immigrants, that do not humiliate people who are fleeing danger, creating an organized system so that they can properly present their case.”
On Trump: “He would be a dictator on his first day”
When asked about how was it defined politicallyHarris began by defining what it is not.
“I think the United States should have a president who does not admire dictators. “Donald Trump said he would be a dictator from day one,” Harris said.
“It seems to me that the United States deserves a president who will fulfill his oath to protect the United States Constitution. “Donald Trump said he would end the United States Constitution,” he said.
