Tijuana prohibits adults from wearing masks on Halloween night for safety reasons

The Halloween celebration is one of the favorites for children and adults, although in the Mexican city of Tijuana it seems that this party will be limited only to the little ones.

And, due to the insecurity that is registered in that border region, the municipal authorities They will prohibit the use of masks by adults in order to avoid criminal acts.

Juan Manuel Sánchez Rosales, secretary of public security of Tijuana, pointed out that adults who hide their faces with masks or paint during the celebrations on October 31 could be arrested by the municipal police.

According to local media such as the weekly Zeta, the only tolerance zone where adults can go in disguise and in a moderate manner is Avenida Revolución, one of the busiest in the city, and where It is estimated that there could be an influx of up to 15,000 visitors during Halloween.

The Halloween operation in Tijuana will begin at three in the afternoon on October 31 and will end at three in the morning on November 1. It is estimated that in the city, at five in the afternoon, they will be active about 469 police officers at surveillance points, using 197 patrol cars and 12 motorcycles.

Arnulfo Guerrero León, general secretary of the Municipal Government, emphasized that the priority is to guarantee security without interfering with citizens’ fun.

“In the event that adults refuse to remove their masks or commit improper acts, they will be arrested and presented before the municipal judge,” Guerrero explained.
