Goodbye to a friend: Julio César Chávez says goodbye to Fernando Valenzuela

Fernando Valenzuelanext to Hugo Sanchez and Julio Cesar Chavezformed the triad of the most important Mexican athletes of the last century. On Tuesday night we learned of the sad death of the first and a few minutes later “Hugol” said goodbye to him in tears. Shortly after, it was the turn of the Mexican Grand Champion, who took to social networks to send a brief, but emotional farewell message to his friend.

In an Instagram post, Chávezwho put Mexico at the top of boxing a few years after the “Bull of Etchohuaquila” did the same, but in baseball, the boxer he said goodbye.

“Rest in peace, dear friend”, wrote the “César del Boxeo” in the publication that was accompanied by two images, the first in black and white of Valenzuela with his Dodgers uniform raising a ball on that left hand that brought so much glory to Mexico and his team, and the second where the two Sonoran athletes appear raising their thumbs.

days before of the death of Fernando Valenzuela, when it was learned that he was going through health problems, Julio César Chávez used his X account to send a message of support and solidarityasking his followers for prayers for him and his family.

“Hello, I just spoke to you to ask for prayers for my friend Fernando Valenzuela. Our great baseball idol who is going through very difficult times. Prayers for him and his entire family. Come on Fernando, you’re going to get out of this first, God. God bless you. “All of Mexico is with you,” said the former world champion at the beginning of October.

The causes of the baseball player’s death are still unknown, but condolences for the great loss and messages of support for his family have been constant on social networks, from the team with which he made history, the Dodgersuntil the Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred and the president of Mexico Claudia Sheinbaum.
