Alejandro Sanz is a dad like any other, and that was evident during an interaction he had with his son, Alexander Sánchez, 20, at Billboard’s Latin Music Week.
In an emotional question and answer session, led by journalist Leila Cobo, Sanz showed his most personal and vulnerable side as a father.
When Alexander was invited on stage to participate in the panel, Cobo admitted that the surprise would change the dynamic of the interview. With ingenuity, he put father and son to the test in front of the public. “I’m going to ask Alejandro to tell us five things we don’t know about you, and I’m going to ask you to tell us five things we don’t know about your dad.”Cobo announced, setting the tone of the conversation.
Alejandro began the dynamic unexpectedly by sharing five things he doesn’t know about his son. “I don’t know who your girlfriend is, or boyfriend, if you have one; if you love me a little; what is your favorite song of mine; When are you going to live with me? “And I don’t know what your plans are tonight.” revealed, generating a deep connection with the audience. This intimate and rare moment for Sanz, known for keeping his personal life private, moved everyone present.
Sanz’s son inherited his artistic vein
Cobo, recognizing Alex’s talent, interrupted to encourage Sanz to share that his son also carries his father’s artistic streak. “Alex is a musician… a very good musician. He began studying trombone and classical jazz […] and then he started playing guitar and piano and started composing his own songs.”said Sanz before passing the microphone to his son.
Alex enthusiastically shared his journey. “I went to a school in Miami for music, which was an art school, and I started studying jazz there, and then I started studying other music.”he expressed. He also mentioned his passion for writing songs and announced that he would be releasing a new one soon.
The Alex moment that left Sanz speechless
The dynamic took a touching turn when it was Alex’s turn to talk about his father. “My dad loves the ocean, it’s his favorite place in the world. He is one of the kindest people on the planet. He loves sea food, it is his favorite food. After his shows, he takes a moment alone to let his adrenaline go down, so after his shows he goes to the dressing room and relaxes for a while.”Alex shared, leaving everyone excited.
The closing was even more emotional when Alex proclaimed: “He is the best dad in the world.”
These words resonated in the room, making the atmosphere filled with applause and smiles, consolidating an unforgettable moment that underlined the beautiful relationship between Alejandro Sanz and his son.
