Mookie Betts had a debt with the Dodgers in the playoffs. Before the postseason this year, the outfielder had three hits in his last 10 playoff games and had been on duty in the most important instance.

But in 2024 history changed. His home run against the San Diego Padres showed the true bat that Mookie Betts is. Since Game 3 of the Division Series, Betts has a .333 average, 1.094 OPS and 10 RBIs in seven games.

This Thursday he was the best hitter of the day in the 10-2 victory over the New York Mets to put the Dodgers one victory away from the World Series.

The Dodgers star went 4-for-6 with a home run, a double and four RBIs. This was the second four-hit postseason game for Mookie Betts, both in a Dodgers uniform.

Betts became the 18th player in history to have 2 or more 4-hit games in postseason history. Furthermore, he is the only one to do so in the Los Angeles Dodgers uniform.

He left behind legends like Steve Garvey, Justin Turner, Corey Seager, among others, who achieved it once.

“Sometimes I just go to the locker room and sit by myself to get away from everything that’s going on and I can reset and get back to normal,” Betts said. “It’s hard, but if you want to do it, you’ll find a way.”

The Shohei Ohtani – Mookie Betts duo does damage in the playoffs

Between Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts they finished Game 4 of the Championship Series with 5 hits in 9 at-bats, 7 runs scored, 2 home runs and 5 RBIs.

Ohtani homered in his first at-bat and scored four times, while Betts drove in 4 runs with a double and a home run.

This without having Freddie Freeman as third baseman, who continues to have discomfort in his ankle.

Freeman called them both future Hall of Famers and what’s special about watching them hit.

“From the beginning, you’re going up against Hall of Famers. It’s amazing, especially when they hit as well as they do now. It’s fun to hit behind them.”
