The story of Lonzo Ball could become one of the best stories of the current NBA season and in recent years in sports in general. After more than a thousand days out of action, a total of 3 knee surgeries, Lonzo Ball was able to put an end to his time off the court and returned through the front door for the Chicago Bulls in a preseason game where they faced the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Ball was greeted with a standing ovation from his teammates. and the fans who were present on Wednesday night (October 16) at the United Center facilities in the city of Chicago.

A movie comeback

On Wednesday night, Ball looked solid, confident and focused, capping the night with 10 points scored. Once the game came to a conclusion, Ball spoke to the media and commented that his knee felt good and that he felt no discomfort. “I didn’t feel it at all. I felt like I was moving great. Now it’s about continuing to build and do it night after night.”

Ball also revealed that he intends to play in Chicago’s final preseason game next Friday.. The 82-game regular season is long and demanding, and the Bulls would be avoiding putting Lonzo in action in consecutive games. However, he can offer quality minutes as a point guard behind Josh Giddey and Coby White.

Lonzo’s history with injuries

It must be remembered that Lonzo Ball had played for the last time on January 14, 2022 and subsequently underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee, hoping to be back for that spring’s playoffs.

However, this did not happen and he had to undergo a second surgery to try to solve the problem in the aforementioned joint as soon as possible, but it did not work either. Then by March 2023, Ball had cartilage replacement surgery, one from which no player had returned to the NBA to date.
