Kany García: in a very Mexican stage

Long before the release of her most recent album, “García,” Kany García knew that this album had everything to break her.

And he was not wrong.

A series of collaborations, leaving her comfort zone and following her impulses as an artist was all Kany needed to take her career of more than fifteen years to a level that perhaps not even she imagined.

“There has been a natural evolutionary process,” he said. “And I think that each artist handles it at different times in their career; Some discover new sounds quickly, some start halfway, and some are like me, I still feel like I’m discovering myself.”

The album has as guests Christian Nodal, Edén Muñoz and Carín León, all of them performers of regional Mexican music. Also Carla Morrison, also Mexican, who sings alternative pop.

The songs “The following”, “Llorar por ella” and “Te lo agradezco”, which correspond, respectively, to Nodal, Muñoz and León, as well as “Que Volver”, by Morrison, have millions of views each on the channel. Kany’s YouTube.

“On the creative side, I kind of wanted to explore new producers, write with younger people,” said the 42-year-old artist. “I wanted to dare to do things that I had not done.”

And the experiment couldn’t have gone better. This month, Kany began the “García Tour 2024”, the most extensive tour he has ever made in the United States and which will arrive this week at the Youtube Theater in Los Angeles and on October 27 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

“This album I felt like I had anticipated that something was going to happen; but no, it was something very intuitive,” said the Puerto Rican singer. “After that I fell in love with the [género] regional”.

In addition to being extensive, the tour will reach some cities that Kany had never visited, and where he returns, they are much larger places than the ones he used to visit before “García.”

“When that happens, it tells me a lot about the work we have done, about the love of the people, and I am very excited that these things happen to me,” he said.

It can be said then that Kany is in a very Mexican stage, because in the video clips she is even seen with a Texan-type hat and cowboy boots.

“I don’t know if it will be a phase or a decade,” he said. “I don’t know how long it will last, but I really enjoy it and people appreciate it at shows because it’s as if we had added other colors and flavors.”
