Chivas contacted the Peruvian champion coach in Liga MX

Juan Reynoso, Former coach of Puebla and Cruz Azul in the MX League, where he was crowned champion in the Clausura 2021 tournament with the Celeste Machine, has joined the list of candidates to lead the Chivas del Guadalajara, joining the list of candidates that make up Gerardo Espinoza and Robert Dante Siboldi.

The possibility was made known by the strategist himself in an interview for the Fox Sport network, who stated that the Chivas board called someone close to him to ask if he was available and that although there has been no further communication, his response was yes.

“They asked, we were supposedly on the radar, but there has been no communication, hopefully. Talking about Chivas is almost talking about the Mexican team, we live so much here and beyond that we are foreigners, my children are Mexican, I have been living here for 30 years. Saying no to Chivas would be unintelligent,” declared the former technical director of Cruz Azul.

The Inca strategist has been out of work for almost 12 monthsafter having been dismissed as coach of the Peruvian national team, due to poor results, but said he was ready to face any challenge in Liga MX or MLS.

“Until two or three months ago, I had no desire to return, There was no such pleasure in working, the truth is that I ended up very emotionally and physically worn out and I think it would be unethical to take that liability to the new club, but recently we really had a huge desire and I would like to return because it is a league that I know, the Mexican or the MLS as a priority,” he declared in the interview for the pay signal television station.

How Reynoso will be remembered as he led Cruz Azul in the Clausura 2021 tournamentsApertura 2021 and Clausura 2022, to lead them to the conquest of their new title in their first competition, after 23 years of painful failures in the cement entity, in a campaign where all the pieces came together to allow the cement entity to rise from a new title in Mexican soccer.

In that season Cruz Azul played 19 games without losing, surpassing the march of 18 that the Uruguayan Robert Dante Siboldi, at the head of the Cement Machine, had registered in a previous tournament and that allowed him to reach the league where they were eliminated by the Pumas in an incredible defeat in 2020.

It should be noted that Juan Reynoso He had to leave Cruz Azul due to several adjustments in the board which caused the departure of Álvaro Dávila as executive president of the Machine and the arrival of Jaime Ordiales as sports director, with whom he had many frictions and in the end decided to take a different path to the celestial institution.

The other Chivas candidates

In this way the name of Juan Reynoso joins the list of options managed by the Chivas board and in which Gerardo Espinoza appears as the most viable for knowing the entire organization from its core due to his time in Tapatío of the Expansión League, with whom he was crowned champion.
