The Swedish Prosecutor’s Office has finally confirmed this morning (Tuesday, October 15) in a statement, that a formal criminal complaint was made to the police for an apparent rape that took place on October 10 in Stockholm, and in which apparently, according to the information disseminated by the Swedish media Expressen, the Real Madrid forward , Kylian Mbappé, is being investigated as a “reasonable suspect”, the lowest level of suspicion.

The Prosecutor’s Office speaks to clarify the situation

Marina Chirakova is the prosecutor in charge of investigating the aforementioned case, she has not made the decision to provide further details about the investigation so far.. “I am not going to confirm that it is a case of rape. “The only thing I can say is that on October 10 a crime was reported in the center of Stockholm,” He stated according to what was explained by the Expressen media.

Given the amount of information of all kinds that has been published recently, the Prosecutor’s Office decided to make a statement to assume that there is a formal criminal complaint, and also inform that there will be more information when it is available. The news has been replicated by other quite prestigious media, such as France’s L’Equipe.

Mbappé and his family respond

All this comes after RMC Sport had published the news and Mbappé, on his official X profile (previously called Twitter), flatly denied everything: “Fake news,” he claimed. And if that were not enough, the family of the French national team player issued a statement via AFP in which they talk about a new defamatory rumor. “These accusations are completely false and their dissemination is unacceptable,” were part of the words of the statement.

It continued as follows: “To put an end to this methodical destruction of Kylian Mbappé’s image, all legal measures will be taken necessary to restore the truth and prosecute any person or media involved in the harassment and defamatory treatment to which Kylian Mbappé has been repeatedly subjected.”

Another medium such as Aftonbladet reported that on Saturday and Monday, the police appeared at the hotel where Mbappé was staying in Stockholm, as part of the relevant investigations. In addition to this, the aforementioned media said that the forward is the person who is being investigated in the case. The report was collected by the police last Saturday, after the woman in question sought medical attention, according to Aftonbladet media sources.

The Swedish media took the necessary steps to have access and be able to speak with the lawyer of the plaintiff and he, in an email, responded: “I cannot comment on anything at this time.”
