After the success of the meeting between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Green Bay Packers in Sao Paulo in the National Football League They are evaluating the possibility of taking another regular season game to Brazil with Rio de Janeiro as a great candidate to host said match.

This was stated by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, who was satisfied with the reception they received last September with the game corresponding to Week 1 that took place at the Corinthians Arena where the Eagles won 34 -29 to the Packers.

“Brazil was a big step for us because we had never played in South America. That was an important element for us. We always consider other markets and cities, even in Brazil, we can go to Rio instead of Sao Paulo”Goodell said according to the EFE news agency.

The NFL is taking full advantage of the love for American football in Brazil.

Roger Goodell’s statements were recently made in London where the manager is as part of the match between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Chicago Bears corresponding to Week 6 of the season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

This is the second of the three regular season games that the English capital will host this NFL campaign that continues with its plan to massify the sport by adding games in large cities outside the United States.

“Germany is doing an incredible job, but we are also considering other places, we will be in Madrid next year and I have no doubt that we are going to go play in Ireland. I know the Steelers really want to go there. I don’t know if it will be next year, but it will be soon.”assured the commissioner.

American Football is increasingly gaining more followers outside the United States and the NFL is working to capitalize on that new market.

Super Bowl abroad?

Although at the moment that possibility is something that is very far from being realized, the NFL commissioner, Roger Goodell, assured that he is not closed to the Super Bowl being held outside the United States at some point.

“Traditionally we’ve tried to play a Super Bowl in an NFL city, that’s always been kind of a reward for cities that have NFL franchises, but things change. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if that happens one day.”declared the manager.

Another point that Goodell pointed out is the intention to expand the number of games on its schedule, which would further open the doors to playing regular season games outside of United States territory.

“If we expand our regular season to a structure of 18, I see 16 of those games being played in international markets”considered.
