America celebrates 108 years of love and hate in Mexican soccer

Not even Rafael Garza Gutiérrez himself, much less the professor and coach Eugenio Cenoz, at the head of a group of students, would have imagined that on October 12, 1916, they would found the club with the most titles in the history of Mexican soccer, whose image is as big as the stories of love and hate that generates America’s shirt.

Because with the simple fact of mentioning the name of América, it is talking about a team that has known how to grow from its own mistakes to build an image that is difficult to match and that represents the importance of Mexican soccer at all levelsalways surrounded by controversy and brilliant moments.

We could spend hours mentioning all the players who have passed and defended this shirt, but the reality is that no one could deny that players like Luis Alves “Zague”, the famous “Lone Wolf”, Javier “Chalo” Fragoso, Jorge “Coco” Gómez, began to forge in the decade of the 60s what is now the support of the most winning organization in Mexican soccer.
