In recent weeks it has been questioned Javier Aguirre’s decision to call up Guillermo Ochoa for the El Tri duels. Several analysts consider that “Memo”’s time in the Mexican team has come to an end. Ricardo Ferretti goes along this same line.

In a conversation with Sergio Dipp on ESPN, the analyst asked Ricardo Ferretti who should play on this FIFA date. The Brazilian strategist, in a mocking tone, advised that these games should mark the end of Guillermo Ochoa’s career.

“I’m going to put in this one (Mexico vs. Valencia) nothing else, then you put in the other one, I put Memo Ochoa and ask him to accompany Andrés Guardado…. to say goodbye with him, of course“said the former coach of the UANL Tigres.

Given this response, Sergio Dipp continued the joking tone of the response. Andrés Guardado’s farewell match, It should also mark the farewell of Guillermo Ochoa, legendary goalkeeper of El Tri.

“Tuca Ferretti, you would tell Ochoa: ‘Brother, see what a beautiful stadium, against Valencia, you and Guardado hold hands and leave, go to retirement happy’”, responded the analyst.

The prestige of Guillermo Ochoa

“Memo” remains in European football. Guillermo Ochoa left Salernitana in Italy to play for the AVS Futebol de Portugal. In this new club, Guillermo Ochoa hopes to maintain the level at 39 years old to continue being called up to El Tri and play his sixth World Cup.

Guillermo Ochoa debuted for the Mexican national team in December 2005. Since then, the Aztec goalkeeper has defended El Tri’s goal in 151 games. Ochoa’s goal is to reach the 2026 World Cup.

So far, “Memo” has a starting position in AVS Futebol. The Mexican has played 4 games in which he has conceded 4 goals, but has kept the goal clean on two occasions.
