The Democratic candidate for the White House, Kamala Harris, slightly leads her Republican rival, Donald Trump, nationally. According to several surveys, with four weeks left until the US elections, the local press reported this Tuesday.

The Democratic vice president, 59, has an average of 49% of voting intentions across the country, compared to Trump’s 46%.. But this is no guarantee of victory on November 5.

In the United States, presidential elections are organized by indirect universal suffrage and are actually played in a handful of highly contested states, from Arizona to Michigan, including Pennsylvania, Nevada, North Carolina, Georgia and Wisconsin.

And both candidates remain very even, poll after poll, in a campaign punctuated by shocks, from the criminal conviction of Donald Trump to the withdrawal of President Joe Biden.

Harris maintains lead in three new polls

The local media Forbes said this Tuesday that The Democrat leads her Republican rival 46% to 43% in a four-day Reuters/Ipsos poll completed on Monday.

In another survey, this time from New York Times/Siena published this Tuesday, Harris also wins by 49% to 46%, This is the first time he has surpassed Trump in the polls of these groups since July.

Meanwhile, in Morning Consult’s weekly poll, also released Tuesday, Harris leads by five points, consistent with her position in last week’s Morning Consult poll.

The Democrat seduces part of the Republicans

The Democratic vice president is trying to win over a part of the Republican electorate based on the hypothesis that some moderates do not want another presidency for the 78-year-old millionaire.

With a vague but centrist electoral program, the Democrat held a rally last week with former Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney, repudiated by Trump.

And on Tuesday she reiterated her intention to name a Republican in her cabinet if she is elected in the November 5 presidential election.

A strategy that seems to be working.

In The New York Times poll, conducted with Siena College, the candidate wins the support of 9% of Republicans, compared to 5% before.
