The forum “Los Latinos Ask… Donald Trump Responds” organized by the Hispanic network Univision and was scheduled for this Tuesday, October 8, was postponed due to the arrival of Hurricane Milton, which is expected to hit the Florida peninsula on Wednesday, reported the television station.

The meeting in which former President Donald Trump would answer questions and was going to be broadcast on Tuesday night had to be postponed to Wednesday, October 17.

Last month the Hispanic network had announced forums with each of the candidates for the White House, which will be moderated by journalist Enrique Acevedo, in which undecided Hispanic voters will participate to address key issues such as the economy, employment, health care, immigration and foreign policy.

Univision said that the “Latinos Ask… Kamala Harris Responds” forum to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, maintains its original broadcast date of Thursday, October 10.

The threat of the hurricane, the second to hit Florida in less than fifteen days, also forced the Republican campaign to cancel a roundtable with Latinos scheduled for Tuesday morning.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with those in the path of Hurricane Milton, and we are postponing the Latino Summit as communities prepare for the storm,” Danielle Alvarez, a senior adviser to the Trump campaign, said in a statement.

The roundtable with Hispanic leaders is also expected to be rescheduled.

Milton, a hurricane that has strengthened in record time, is now a category 5, the largest on the Saffir-Simpson scale, and its center is expected to make landfall probably on Wednesday near Tampa Bay, in Hillsborough County. (west coast of Florida).

The hurricane is moving at a speed of 17 kilometers per hour (10 miles) and will cross almost all of Florida from west to east starting next Wednesday, according to the United States National Hurricane Center.
