The 1980 Washington Quarter coin was designed by John Flanagan and is one of the most sought after in his collection since its debut in 1932. It can be recognized because on the obverse there is a bust of George Washington looking to the left and an eagle on the reverse are composed of nickel-plated copper.

To calculate the value of the coins, several characteristics are taken into account such as: mint mark, rarity, condition, year of circulation, among others. In the case of this particular piece, its value can range from 25 cents to thousands of dollars.

This coin for example; It has two mintmarks that reveal the place where they were minted: “P” for the Philadelphia Mint and “D” for the Denver Mint. Knowing the origin of production of the coin is important as it helps collectors evaluate them better.

As for the most common errors that these coins can have, there are double minting, which is basically when a coin is minted more than once, off-center minting, which refers to the lack of alignment of the coin when minted; and finally the cracks in the die that, although many of them are subtle, still increase the attractiveness of the piece.

The more details, errors or imperfections the coin has, the higher its price will be in the auction market.
