Jack Flaherty hit Fernando Tatis Jr. with a pitch in the sixth inning of Game 2 between the Dodgers and the Padres.

After the hit, Flaherty and Manny Machado exchanged several words and even made the Dodgers fans tense, who then threw several things onto the field.

After the loss, Flaherty responded to the media about the hit and revealed whether it was on purpose or not.

“Look, I failed in the first inning and threw the ball down the middle. “I wasn’t going to miss over the plate again,” he said. “I have no reason to hit a guy there to start the sixth.”

Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a superb home run off Tatis Jr. in the first inning that started San Diego’s offense in Game 2.

“I was trying to take effect, but he didn’t move away and hit him. I wasn’t trying to hit him to try to open an inning or anything like that. That doesn’t make any sense. It didn’t come close to his head, nothing. “I was just trying to push a guy off the plate, but he didn’t move away.”

“I was excited after taking out Manny,” Flaherty said. “It’s an important moment in the playoffs. “That’s what happens.”

Fernando Tatis Jr. comments that the ball motivated him more

Fernando Tatis Jr. had a great night with two home runs, a double and three RBIs. For him, the hit gave him more energy.

“It was a two-seamer,” Tatis said of Flaherty’s pitch that hit him. “The game is at stake. I know my guys have my back all the time, and they all saw it tonight.

“There are too many important things in a series to throw at guys. That’s what I understand. That’s what my baseball IQ tells me. When it hit me, it just gave me more energy. “My boys gave me more energy.”
