The Chivas del Guadalajara ended up paying the price for a week full of distractions, first due to the issue of the possible departure of their coach Fernando Gago and second for the aggression of “Piojo” Alvarado to the reporters by launching a firecracker to fall 2-3 against Atlas in the Guadalajara classic.

A painful defeat for the “Sacred Flock” that sees how the important matches of the championship get out of hand in one way or another, as happened tonight at the Akron stadium, where they ended up being defeated by some red-blacks who put them against the wall with a resounding 0-3.

Atlas, for its part and without being guilty of Chivas’ situation, managed to wake up and put aside a streak of three consecutive defeats in the current Apertura 2024 tournament, in order to hit its most staunch rival in the 292nd edition of the Jalisco classic that polarizes this city in a very big way.

The red and black with the goals of Jhon Murillo and Jeremy Márquez They went to half-time with a resounding 2-0 as visitors in the midst of controversy over the first goal that resulted from an apparent foul by an athletic striker, but that the referee approved to have Chivas against the wall.

To make matters worse, starting the second half José Lozano made it 0-3 in some red-and-white mistakes that showed Chivas’ poor approach and forced coach Fernando Gago to adjust by sending a center forward nominal like Ricardo Marín, whose absence in the first half grew too much with the score against.

At 52′, Atlas already led 0-3. Rivaldo Lozano won the ball from Mozo in a crash play, drove and shot crossed to give the Zorros a greater advantage to defeat “Tala” Rangel and thereby send an important message to the “Sacred Flock”.

Chivas’ reaction

But when the situation seemed more serious for Chivas and people shouted niceties at Fernando Gago, suddenly the people from Guadalajara began to fuel Ricardo Marín in the attack, making them also catch on. Fernando “Nene” Beltrán and Víctor Guzmán, so that Marín made it 1-3 in the 63rd minute.

The goal gave a lot of life to the Chivas who continued pushing and at 70′, Roberto Alvarado made it 2-3 by closing a good stroke on the right side of Mateo Chávez and “Piojo” kicked to bring his team even closer.

That encouraged Chivas more, but the rush to make the plays began to work against him and in the end they had to accept a painful defeat that was sponsored by a week of hell for Guadalajara due to the rumors, as we already said, of the departure of Fernando Gago and the indiscipline against the reporters of “Piojo” Alvarado.
