A man pleaded guilty to torture charges during a trial in Michigan after his ex-wife gave testimony about how he electrocuted her and forced her to stand on a bucket with a rope around her neck.

Saul Lucio-Ipina30, faces charges related to two incidents that occurred last year in the couple’s basement, according to the site MLive.

The woman, who filed for divorce after the attacks, described to the jury the horrible abuse she suffered at the hands of her husbandaccording to a judicial report consulted by the aforementioned media.

The first incident occurred in January 2023. Lucio-Ipina accused her partner of cheating on her and forced her to go to the basement where she had a bucket on the floor and a rope hanging from a ceiling beam. He then made her stand on the bucket.

At one point, he fell out of the bucket and the woman was suspended in the air, but her husband helped her at the time, she said.

“He electrocuted me”

About two months later, during another argument about infidelity, he took her back to the basement, where he forced her to climb on a children’s swing hanging from the ceiling.

“He tied me with a rope and a metal wire around my arms and down my back.”he testified. “I couldn’t get up, even if I wanted to.”

The terrible abuse continued. He said Lucio-Ipina hooked power cables to the exposed wire, causing him to be electrocuted.

“Every time I answered a question or didn’t answer a question, he electrocuted me.”he told the jury.

The defendant had her tied up for five hours before he “got tired” and released her, MLive reported. She reported the incident a couple of days later and police arrested him.

Kent County Deputy Prosecutor Angela Curtis told jurors during her opening statement that the aforementioned incidents were, without a doubt, torture. “His intention was to inflict as much pain and suffering as possible.”he pointed out.

At the end of the first day of opening statements and testimony, Lucio-Ipina pleaded guilty to two counts of torture and witness interference, and is scheduled for sentencing on October 28.
