The German technical director of the Barcelona Football Club, Hansi Flick, assumed full responsibility for the Barça club’s first defeat of the season, suffered against Osasuna at the El Sadar stadium. The German coach opted for a starting eleven with many rotations and bringing in very young players such as Sergi Domínguez, Gerard Martín and Pau Víctor. But despite this, this bet did not have the expected success, especially on the defensive line.

However, and with the defeat of 4 goals to 2, the German made it clear that he would do the same work again to prepare for the duel against Osasuna and explained it as follows: “It wasn’t our best game. In the first part we made many mistakes. We have made a lot of changes in the team, it may be a reason, but I think they were necessary. We have many games and some players have played many minutes. We have to take care of them, it is our responsibility.”

“If you want to blame someone for the defeat, blame me, that’s fine. I think we are on the way. On Tuesday we have an important match in the Champions League, we only have two days to prepare for it and recover. We will do it and we hope to see the other side of our team.”

Barcelona showed its best face in the 2nd half

The change in level and attitude for the culé club was evident in the second half of the match: “I think that in the second half we tried to do better. We have had opportunitiesbut the penalty killed us. It’s like that. Osasuna has also been very good in transitions. We have to analyze it and we will have to do it better.”

Hansi Flick’s gala eleven: “90 minutes, there was no option”

Flick also spoke about the starting 11 against Osasuna and stated that he would repeat it if necessary at some point during the season: “Yes, why not? I have no other option. Our team has played with three midfieldersand we have a defender playing there like Eric García, we have Casadó, Pedri and Pablo Torre, four players.”

“We have to think about which player is going to start, it is not easy, but we accept it. After the October break we hope to have some of them back. It’s not an excuse, I think we could have won if we had played better. We saw it in the second half, when we played and combined better. But, for the 90 minutes, there was no option today.”

Barcelona’s first defeat comes at the gates of the culé club’s second day in the Champions League, where they will have to face Young Boys from Switzerland: “I always look forward, with positivity. Everyone wants to play in the Champions Leagueand we have to win our first game. It’s not easy because Young Boys is a very fast team. “We will see.”

The controversy, with a possible foul on the French defender, Jules Koundé and a possible penalty on the Spanish forward and the jewel of the Barça team, Lamine Yamal: “I’m sitting outside and it’s not the best view. I think that, in the second goal, there may have been a foul, but in the end the referee decided. They have the VAR, I think they also look at it in Spain. It’s already happened and we don’t think much about it, it’s over.”
