The wait to see Carlos Vela again in a Major League Soccer match with Los Angeles FC It is becoming increasingly shorter with the Mexican fine-tuning details in training with the Los Angeles team that last week confirmed his return after several months of inactivity.

Since Monday, the experienced player has been part of the black and gold team’s training sessions ahead of their match this Wednesday against Sporting Kansas City, which could see the long-awaited return of the club’s all-time leading scorer.

On the social networks of the Los Angeles team, it has been possible to see Carlos Vela participating in LAFC training sessions as they prepare to play the US Open Cup final this Wednesday, a match in which, although nothing has been confirmed, the forward could get some playing time.

If he is not in good physical condition to make his debut, the experienced Mexican forward could make his debut in the corresponding match of the local championship that LAFC will be playing on Saturday against Cincinnati FC as a visitor.

After nine months in which he was unable to reach an agreement with any team (despite the different offers he received) to continue his career, Carlos Vela finally reached an agreement with Los Angeles FC to join the team for the remainder of this season with the option of one more year of contract.

The Mexican striker had played his last match as a LAFC player at the end of last season where the Los Angeles team was defeated in the MLS final by the Columbus Crew (2-1) on December 9.

Carlos Vela generated interest in his re-presentation as a Los Angeles FC player, which opened the doors of the team to the Mexican for a new experience.

“I will probably retire here in Los Angeles”the 35-year-old Mexican commented during his presentation last week. “I’m only focused on the present, on these eight games left plus the playoffs, and then we’ll talk.”Vela added about his future.

How is Los Angeles FC doing?

Before the return of Mexican Carlos Vela was confirmed, the Los Angeles team managed to place itself in a comfortable position for the postseason with the intention of taking revenge after the defeat suffered in the last MLS final.

Steven Cherundolo’s team is in fourth place in the Western Conference with a record of 14 wins, seven draws and eight losses after 29 games played. They are nine points behind the leaders, Los Angeles Galaxy (58 pts.).

Additionally, the black and gold team also made it to the final of the US Open Cup, which will be played this Wednesday against Sporting Kansas City at BMO Stadium.
