Secret Service Officer Accidentally Shoots Himself While on Duty

A United States Secret Service (USSS) Uniformed Division officer was injured in Washington, D.C., on Saturday night after accidentally shooting himself.

The Secret Service told Fox News Digital that the “negligent discharge” occurred near 32nd and Fessenden streets in the northwest section of the city shortly before 8 p.m.

The agent, who was on duty, He was handling his service weapon when it accidentally went off.

The USSS reported that the agent’s injuries were not life-threatening and added that he was transported to an area hospital for treatment and evaluation.

Lt. Paul Mayhair, public information officer for the USSS Uniformed Division, added that no injuries or other injuries were reported.

The Secret Service Office of Professional Responsibility will review the facts and circumstances of this incident.
