The Barcelona coachHansi Flick, joined the wave of players and coaches who in recent weeks have criticised the accumulation of matches on the calendar, and he said on Saturday that “FIFA has to take better care of the players”.

“I think FIFA needs to take better care of its players. It’s not the best possible situation for them. We all like football and we like players to give their best performance. If we want the best possible quality, We have to reduce the number of matches”he said in statements from the Joan Gamper Sports City.

Flick admitted that he has seven players out due to injury, he stated that “Some players have a lot of work to do” minutes, but stressed that this will not be an “excuse” to justify the team’s results and stressed that he only thinks about the players he has available so that they perform “at one hundred percent.”

Ancelotti says players can lower their salaries if they play less

Carlo Ancelotti, Italian coach of Real Madrid, assured that the complaints to put a stop to the increase in matches in a season is not enough to modify this year’s calendar.

The Italian indicated that players could even lower their salaries, if that means playing fewer games.

“Here football needs to reflect because the objective is to try to play fewer games. to avoid injuries. If that comes with a salary reduction, I don’t think the players would have any problem with lowering their salary if they play less,” he said at a press conference.

Ancelotti, along with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, is one of the most vocal voices against the current calendar.

After seeing how Rodri Hernández already took a step forward in the claim, by suggesting a possible players’ strike, seconded by Dani Carvajal and more players from big clubs, the coach again analysed the situation with the aim of finding future solutions.
