Truck with 8 firefighters overturns, causing serious injuries

Eight Orange County firefighters suffered injuries, several of them very serious, in a rare accident which was caused by a ladder that was lying on a highway on Thursday night.

According to information from the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the fire truck was returning from fighting the Airport Fire. He overturned on Highway 241 in the Irvine area while trying to avoid the stairs which appeared on the lanes of the aforementioned freeway.

The vehicle crashed into the side rail and then rolled over. Six firefighters were seriously injured and two were less injured. They were flown by helicopter to hospitals in Orange County, southeast of Los Angeles. No further details were immediately released on the condition of the injured.

The accident occurred at 6:50 pm after Firefighters had just completed a 12-hour shift battling the Airport fireone of the largest this season in Southern California.
