New explosions of electronic devices in Lebanon on Wednesday left at least nine dead and 300 injured, according to the country’s Ministry of Health.

The explosions came a day after thousands of beepers used by the armed group Hezbollah to communicate detonated in the country, causing around 3,000 injuries and more than a dozen deaths.

Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported that on Wednesday at least Three people have died from the explosion of “devices” in the town of Sohmar in the southern Bekaa Valley.

Hundreds of people have been injured in the latest explosions, especially in the stomach and hands, according to Reuters.

A security source told Reuters the latest explosions in Lebanon have occurred on portable radios.

Another source said Hezbollah bought the radios five months ago, at the same time as the beepers that exploded on Tuesday.

The NAA also said “old beepers” exploded inside homes in Beirut’s southern suburbs and southern Lebanon.

He added that several injured people were taken to hospitals in the capital and in Baalbek, which is located in the Bekaa Valley.

An NNA correspondent said two people were injured after a device exploded on a road in the village of Ali al-Nahri in central Bekaa.

Another said a beeper exploded inside a car near a cemetery in Jdeidet Marjeyoun, in southern Bekaa.
