Tyler Glasnow unfortunately will not be able to finish the season with the Dodgers Since he has been forced to hang up his pitcher’s glove and will now be supporting his teammates from the bench, the right-hander was diagnosed with a sprained right elbow, after having experienced discomfort during the warm-up prior to a simulated game.

A regrettable injury

After various medical studies were carried out, the The Los Angeles Dodgers have decided to end Glasnow’s current season, which will result in him missing the Major League Baseball playoffs.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts made no secret of his frustration at the situation that the Los Angeles organization will now have to deal with. “It’s a big blow for us,” Roberts said. “Tyler did everything he could to stay healthy, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough.”

Glasnow, who arrived in Los Angeles last offseason The 2018 Dodgers signed a five-year, $136.5 million contract extension from the Tampa Bay Rays, seemingly overcoming past injuries that had plagued and troubled him before. However, history is repeating itself once again, and this time it forces him to step down from the Dodgers organization ahead of the playoffs.

Glasnow was on a good pace and had a positive season

Glasnow had pitched a career-high 134 innings this season.which seemed to indicate that he was finally leaving his arm problems behind and was causing great excitement in the Dodgers’ upper echelons and among fans about his aspirations for the postseason and an eventual World Series.

However, he was placed on the injured list in the middle of last season. August with elbow discomfort, an injury that never fully healed. Glasnow’s absence puts the Dodgers’ rotation in a rather fragile situation heading into the postseason. The team was counting on him to be one of the spearheads of its rotation, along with names like Jack Flaherty and Yoshinobu Yamamoto.

Now, the situation has become more complicated and the rotation looks thinner.with Clayton Kershaw also dealing with an injury, in his case, to his foot.

Who can be the substitutes?

The Dodgers will now have to turn to options like Gavin Stone, who still is not quite ready to make his return to action at the moment, and Bobby Miller, who has struggled with consistency throughout the year this season. In addition, Walker Buehler continues to recover from his second Tommy John surgery, so he is not a very clear option for the playoffs either.
