Angela Aguilar is proud of her rootsAlthough the singer and her family have built their musical career in Mexico and around regional Mexican music, she and her parents were not born in the North American country.
Angela, like her father Pepe Aguilar, was born in the United Statesspecifically in Los Angeles; however, has a strong Mexican family heritage by his grandparents Antonio Aguilar and Flor Silvestre.
In an interview with Vogue Mexico, Pepe Aguilar’s daughter said she was proud to have dual nationalitysomething that makes her feel powerful.
“I think, for me, Being Mexican-American is a kind of superpower“I can speak English, I can speak Spanish, I can connect with more people. I know that being bicultural is beautiful,” Angela said.
Angela Aguilar’s demands before each show
In a recent interview with W Radio Colombia, Pepe Aguilar said that his daughter is a diva when it comes to preparing to give a show and revealed some of his demands.
“Angela orders like 50 dresses. You walk into her dressing room and I say, ‘Am I paying for this mother?'” said the singer of “Por mujeres como tú.”
The patriarch of the Aguilar family also shared other demands of his daughter“Incense, they put things on the wall, they play music, they give him a massage, he has like 20 beggars dressed up, his jewelry and everything else,” he added.
Although Pepe Aguilar acknowledged that his daughter is a diva, He assured that he is the one in charge of his shows. “I’m the owner of the show, I hire those guys, obviously it’s not like, ‘My daughter, what do you want to sing?’ No way, what happened? Do you see my face like an idiot?! And it’s not like I do whatever I want,” he said.
“But yes, 35 years of experience against ten, and they have a lot of confidence in me, I am the producer of the two guys (Ángela and Leonardo),” he added.
