What caused the Puerto Rican volleyball player who was found dead in Türkiye to die?

The Puerto Rican volleyball player Pilar Victoria, 28 years oldwho She was found dead in her apartment in Türkiye last week, died of natural causes, according to the preliminary autopsy published this Monday.

“We have received the preliminary report of the autopsy performed on Pilar Marie, which indicates that her death was due to natural causes. While a final autopsy report is expected, it could take several months to complete.“, The family explained of the athlete in a statement released by the Puerto Rican Volleyball Federation on its social networks.

Victoria was a member of the Puerto Rican senior volleyball team and was playing for the Turkish club Nilüfer Belediyespor at the time of her death.

The family of Pilar Marie Victoria Lopez, a prominent Puerto Rican volleyball player, reported that the cause of her death, according to a preliminary autopsy report, is due to natural causes.

The family indicated that they are also finalizing the necessary procedures to be able to transfer the young woman’s body to Puerto Rico and they hope to return in the “next few days.”

“We have already obtained all the documentation required by the Turkish authorities; however, we are still waiting for the Consular Mortuary Certificate from the Embassy or the United States Consulate, which is the document that authorizes the transfer of Pilar Marie to Puerto Rico,” the note detailed.

The Volleyball Club Nilüfer Beledieyespor Bursa held a service to honour the athletein which the team’s players, managers and coaches participated.

“Naturally, everyone in the organization is deeply moved and wanted to say a final goodbye to our Pilar Marie,” the family said.

The text announced that funeral services will be held in Puerto Rico and expressed gratitude for the support received in “this very painful process,” as well as “the immense affection and respect” shown towards Victoria.

Victoriá, who played with the Criollas de Caguas sextet in the Superior Women’s Volleyball League in Puerto Rico, is the daughter of former athletes Pilar López and Luis Ernesto Victoriá.

Her death was announced last Thursday, when officials from the Turkish club, concerned about her absence, went to her home in the Belediyespor clubhouse and found the lifeless body of the athlete.
